Floating Market Lembang: Family Destination for Vacation in Bandung

Bandung can’t be separated from the epithet of tourism city. Various kinds of tourism place can be found in the capital of west java. Although Bandung doesn’t have large river like Barito in Kalimantan, we can perceive the tour sensation as floating market Muara Kuin in Kalimantan, or floating market Damnoen Saduak in Ratchaburi, Thailand. Floating Market Lembang located in Jalan Grand Hotel No. 33 E, Lembang, West Bandung.

Inspired by the two floating market above, Floating Market Lembang is on the lake named Situ Umar. The place has opened since 12 December 2012. You can find various foods sold in 46 boats floating on the lake, such as tempe mendoan, roasted corn, colenak, ketan bakar, durian bakar, and many more.
But the boats which sell variety of foods are slightly different from the floating market located at Muara Kuin, Kalimantan. The boats are well placed, so the visitors can be possible to go to each boat.
Around the lake are placed a few small joglo and gazebo to take a rest while enjoying the sight. In one corner there is Kampung Leuit which has leuit-leuit for resting accompanied by a field miniature which brings the sensation of the real field.
Melani, the marketing communication of Floating Market Lembang said that the place was presented as a tourism alternative in west java. “We want to make a place for recreation and culinary, so people who go to Lembang in order to find some foods, they will go to Floating Market Lembang; moreover, their kids can go for recreation”.
Besides culinary foods sold on the boats, the visitor of Floating Market Lembang can go around the lake by renting canoe, paddle boat, wooden boat, and water bicycle. There are also adventure game, such as Flying Fox and ATV. Besides that, the kids can experience of feeding rabbit and duck. Moreover, there are strawberry and organic vegetable field which can be harvested by the visitor. A few meters from the Floating Market, you can find some restaurants and factory outlet.

To enter the Floating Market Lembang, you have to pay 10.000 IDR/person. The price has included welcome drink. Moreover, if you want to go around the lake, you have to pay around 30.000 – 70.000 IDR. The price of foods are various, start from 10.000 IDR you can eat local culinary food. The uniqueness of the place is the transaction in Floating Market Lembang is using special coin which is changed in the special stand. (IN)
